Political Affiliations

Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. Contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) made on behalf of the organization in favor of or in opposition to any candidate for public office clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign activity. Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes.

Gun Raffles

The Fairview Park Auxiliary Police Association has raffled off firearms every year since 2016. This is our largest grossing source of revenue. We often get a few questions each year in regards to our raffle, so we would like to answer as many as we can below. If you have a question that is not covered, please feel free to reach out to us below.

1) How do you acquire your firearms?

We have received our firearms by three different means. The first is a direct purchase of the firearm from the manufacturer them selves. The second is a purchase from a gun store. And the third is the donation of the firearm by an organization or individual.

2) How do you purchase the firearms?

The firearms are purchased using Association funds and often not paid for until after the raffle has occurred in order to ensure that raffle proceeds are directly funding the purchase of the raffle prizes themselves.

3) What is the protocol for the raffle?

We try to have each raffle consist of three firearms in similar value up to our $1,000 budget. We then sell up to 400 tickets. There are three names pulled at the end of our Annual Fundraiser. The first name has first pick, the second name and second pick and the last name gets the last pick.

4) What happens once the winner is notified?

The winner is notified that they are to pick up the firearm from gun store in which the firearm is located. If the firearm is located at Fin Feather and Fur, the winner is able to choose a gift card for the value of the firearm.

5) Does the winner have to pass a background check?

The winner of the firearm has to pick them up from the licensed dealers and ARE required to fill out a Firearms Transaction Record, ATF Form 4473, and are subject to a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) check. Felons and other prohibited persons may not lawfully receive or possess these firearms or ammunition.
