One Year Down, a Lifetime to Go
April 27 marked the one-year anniversary of the Fairview Park Auxiliary Police Association. In the first year, we have made great progress in our efforts to better equip the Fairview Park Auxiliary Police Unit.
We partnered with the Westlake Auxiliary Police Association and received all of the uniforms that no longer fit in their storage. We were able to raise enough funds through donations and fundraising to pay off all upfront expenses and purchase new winter hats for the unit, as well as two traffic wands. The winter hats came with the Auxiliary Unit patch on them and the traffic wands will make directing traffic at night safer.
We have formed partnerships with several organizations, including the Ohio Tactical Officers Association, one of the state’s leading bodies for law enforcement training; 5.11 Tactical, an apparel and equipment manufacturer; and Nightstick by Bayco, a safety light manufacturer.
As a way of celebrating, we would like to cordially invite you to our Benefit and Reverse Raffle on June 11 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at American Legion Clifton Post 421 on Brookpark Rd. and West 220th Street. The event offers a good time, with good people, good food, and great prizes. A ticket gets you all you can eat. Drinks, including beer and wine, will be available. The ticket also includes one entry into the reverse raffle for a grand prize of $1,200 (must be present to win). Other prizes and baskets will also be raffled.
Tickets for $25 are available by sending an email to fpauxpa@gmail. com with your name, address, phone number, and the number of tickets you would like. You can also call Henry Chaski at 216-640-6447 for tickets.
In our second year, we would like to continue our growth by exploring different avenues to better train the Auxiliary Officers and by encouraging more group trainings with other departments. We would like to outfit every officer with a specifically-sized traffic vest for both safety and security purposes. Lastly, we would like to work closely with the police department in any areas where assistance is needed, including the revitalization of the inside of the police department.
Thank you to everyone who has made the first year of the Fairview Park Auxiliary Police Association possible.
